There’s nothing like getting a delivery of two beautiful albums.  So much hard work and creativity are poured into these pieces, so seeing them completed gives me goosebumps every time.  One of the albums is for Bronya’s Bat Mitzvah, a 10″x 10″ Leather Craftsmen borderless album with Euro Slate Blue Leather, gold gilding (!), and the exquisite Asian Rice end paper.  Take a look at some details:

The other album is Joanna and Michael’s bridal book (take a look a some design highlights / wedding highlights), a 10″x 10″ Leather Craftsmen borderless book in the classic Euro Black Leather with silver italic script.  Take a look:

For their engagement session, we revisited many of the campus locations that were near and dear to them during their courtship. Their faces lit up with each memory and it was wonderful getting to know Rachel and James better.

We worked on some good photo habits that will help them on their big day this June!

Do you know this quiet woman?

The weather gods were smiling down on Iris and Ariel as they held their fairytale wedding at Gramercy Mansion. It was truly magical!

It was a Cinderella day for Nina as she prepared for her wedding… check out those cool high heels! That rich deep purple was echoed nicely in her gorgeous bouquet, thanks to Amy at Crimson and Clover Floral Designs.

The saturated colors and wonderful textures of the 1840’s Plaza was the backdrop for this elegant wedding. Nina and Jay made good use of the various historic buildings at this venue. The Carrollton Inn, Carroll Mansion, and outside courtyard were the settings for pre-ceremony activities.

One of our favorite shots of the day - Nina’s ruffled dress was fantastic!

Their ceremony took place in the third floor banquet facility and their reception was hosted in the fourth floor ballroom. Every location was unique!

Last but definitely not least, excellent food and impeccable service was provided by Chef’s Expressions.

Erin and Andrew had a wonderful “blue dress meets red firefighter meets fireworks” wedding at the Hillendale Country Club last fall (take a look at the blog post), and obviously I was excited to get to design such a visual wedding.

First off…the image of Erin putting on her bracelet in front of the window was one of my favorite Isabell images of 2011.  Beautiful light + beautiful woman = beautiful photograph.  Erin like the toned version the best, and I thought it would be interesting visual to have the splashes of blue from her shoes as well as the hints of red and  green popping on the left of the page.  Love it!

Of course the red and white of the firetruck would go with the blue of the vests!

This is perhaps my favorite spread of the album…and no, not because they’re cutting the cake with an axe…well maybe a little.  Actually it took me a while to find how to tie these two images together.  Luckily the geometry of the cake detail shot lent itself as the perfect frame for the bouquet toss.

What a perfect way to end a wedding (album) .

Tim is a long time colleague and friend and I am honored to cover his upcoming wedding with Diana in April. They both worked at Harbor Court years ago, so this was a perfect place for their engagement session.

The Explorer’s Lounge has such wonderful ambience and they particularly liked the hand-painted wall murals. Elephants and monkeys!

What photo session at Harbor Court would be complete without a “bride and groom” picture at the foot of their sweeping staircase!

Last fall Megan and Mark came together wonderful wedding at Baltimore’s Saint Ignatius Church and the Engineer’s Club.  The beauty of the bride and groom as well as the architecture of the setting made designing their wedding album quite the treat.

Mount Vernon square is a picturesque place for wedding photos.  The classic architecture and monumental marble give a backdrop like no other and give me a lot to work with when putting together a design.

Saint Ignatius is a marvel to look at, and almost every couple married there wants a large wide angle shot shown off in there album.  I’m happy to accommodate.

Sometimes heavy vignettes on photos out of black does a great job of showing the energy of the end of the reception…leading to…

…a great finish.

Joanna and Michael were married last summer at Baltimore’s Marriott Waterfront (take a look at the blog post here).  When it came time to design their album, my main goal was to echo the classic, beautiful, and warm feeling that their wedding presented to me.  The Marriott’s tans, whites, and oranges was a great color scheme match to the soft pink and deep blues of the wedding.  These images are some of my favorites from the book!

Most of the time I try to pick up backgrounds and textures from the multitude of options Gary gives me with his photography, but occasionally I dive into my own collection of designs for some nice flourishes like the one pictured above.

I love it when Gary gives me a photo like the cake shot above!  It makes it so easy (well seemingly easy) to join the power of their stunning cake with the joy and story of the wedding so easily.

And now I begin the parent books – can’t wait!

Allie was very poised during her services and definitely happy to celebrate afterwards! “Color everywhere” was the order of the day with balloons, unique lighted centerpieces and much more thanks to Terrye and Robert Grosshandler (Parties By Terrye).

Ellen Leaming and The Suburban Club made 250 guests comfortable and happy at this very active event. I was impressed that the high guest count did not feel crowded at all. Purnell and his So Fresh Entertainment crew did an outstanding job with over 100 high-energy kids!
